What do I do if I discover abnormal deposits or "gunk" (gel) in the oil?
If you find gel-like deposits or other unusual substances, we recommend submitting a separate sample of the material itself (the "gunk"). We can then perform special analyses such as XRF or FTIR to try to identify what the substance consists of (e.g. whether it is mineral deposits, metallic soaps or emulsified water)
